What is Winter Guard?

Winter guard is an indoor color guard sport derived from military ceremonies or veterans organizations ceremonies. Unlike traditional color guard, winter guard is performed indoors, usually in a gymnasium. Performances make use of recorded music rather than a live band or orchestra. Teams of athletes perform choreographed dances and routines with various equipment: flags, wooden rifles or sabres.

Buchser Middle School's Winter Guard season runs from the middle of January until early April.  There are two, 2-hour practices per week, usually on Mondays and Wednesdays, but subject to change.  Expect 1-3 performances, one of which will be on a Saturday.

There is a suggested team donation of $50 requested from each participant.  Equipment will be provided.
